What is an NHBC New Build warranty
New Home Warranties
Most mortgage companies require a 10-year warranty to be provided if you buy a new home.
The warranty covers much more than standard building regulations.
The biggest provider is the NHBC, the National House Building Council.
Their 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty is also an insurance policy for building defects
Other warranty providers are Premier, LABC, BLP, Castle 10 and Build Zone
Their role is to work with the housebuilding industry to raise the standards of new homes and to provide consumer protection for homebuyers. They champion construction quality, so you you can buy a new-build home with confidence.
The 10-year NHBC Buildmark warranty cover comes in two parts, here’s how it works:
Part 1: 10-year structural warranty.
Your new home comes with a 10-year structural warranty, meaning that the cost of fixing damage caused by faults in specified parts of the home, usually the structural and weatherproofing elements is covered.
Part 2: 2-year fixtures and fittings warranty.
During the first two years, you have the added reassurance that if something goes wrong within your home, and is covered by the 2-year fixtures and fittings warranty, we will make sure it is put right.
